Hygiene Kits
We continue to collect items to create hygiene kits for the unhoused and organizations that help them. There is a box in the narthex (lobby) of the sanctuary where you can put these items. Please consider travel sizes for most of these items. All items must be unopened, unused, and new. Kits will be given to Hope Partners in Ontario, the school district, and to anyone who stops by needing one. Below is a list of what we need most (red is the most in need):
>Deodorant (especially men’s)
>Razors and Shaving Cream
>Hand Lotion
>Feminine hygiene products
>Hand Soap
>Toilet paper
>Water bottles (case)
>Socks!! These should be adult sized and new; for men, women, or unisex.
>Lip balm
>Wash cloths
>Hair ties
>Dental floss
We are pleased to announce that the Council of Bishops of the UMC have ratified four constitutional amendments that are effective immediately. “The ratification and certification of these constitutional amendments mark a defining moment in the continuing renewal and unity of The United Methodist Church. These amendments reflect the church’s rich diversity and deep commitment to live more fully into our shared mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and strengthens our world-wide connection to serve faithfully and inclusively in every context,” —Bishop Tracy S. Malone, President of the Council of Bishops.
130 Years and Counting!
On Sunday, September 14, we celebrated 130 years in the city of Chino!!! It was a joyous service and luncheon. We had video guest appearances, a retired bishop, Bishop Mary Ann Swensen, as well as our scouting troop, Troop 202 and the mayor of Chino, The Honorable Mayor Eunice Ulloa. Larry McFarland cooked up the main dishes of steak and chicken, while true to being Methodists, the rest was a potluck. Our talented Kim and Cory Radford decorated extravagantly, while Sue Rhodes and Judy McConnell headed up the collection of 130 socks, which ended up being well over 500 pairs!!! Our dear Bobbie Lane prepared the history section in the back of the social hall. A surprise detail were the gift bags, courtesy of Pat Scott.
It was a day and a legacy to celebrate!!! The video is on our Facebook page (until they delete it), but here’s the link: 130 Years in Chino!
Love is what we are commanded to do:
If you are at church, you can write a check to Chino UMC and in the memo, write “Wildfires”. 100% of your donation will go directly to UMCOR and the cause. Administrative costs are paid for by church apportionments.
Global Ministries/UMCOR is on Scene!
If you are looking to see how to help or how to get help, the California-Pacific UMC site is a great resource:
