Who We Are

Chino United Methodist Church is a welcoming and caring congregation that seeks to serve God, one another and others by growing in faith, modeling compassion and connecting to the wider world with help, hope and peace. We embrace an emerging Christianity that invites questioning and contemplation, focuses less on dogma and doctrine and more on compassion and love. We promote practices of faith and service to transform both us and our community. We invite you to join us. Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, there’s a place for you here.

History

Chino United Methodist Church was officially organized on September 11, 1895 as Chino Methodist Episcopal Church. At that time there were 18 members. We have had a wonderful history in and around the City of Chino ever since! In that time countless people have come and gone, leaving their mark on the community and congregation. We have been through the horse and buggy days (there is still a horse tie-down ring in the curb across the street!), to the “horseless carriage,” to the cruisers of the fifties and muscle cars of the sixties, all the way up to the hybrid and electric cars of today. And, at each stage along the way, we have remained relevant to the people and times we serve.

FAQs

When and where are your church services?
Services are held in our sanctuary every Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

What should I wear?
Feel free to wear whatever makes you comfortable. We care more that you’re here than what you wear.

How long are your services?
Most services last about one hour. Communion Sundays (first Sunday of the month) can run a little longer.

Will I have to say anything, sign anything or be singled out?
Be assured that you will not be put on the spot or embarrassed. While we do receive an offering, we do not want anyone to feel obligated to give. We also do like to collect basic information in our guest registry, but if you prefer not to, that’s fine with us.

Do you have child care?
Although we have a full-featured nursery for babies and toddlers, it has not been used in quite awhile. All children are welcome to stay in the sanctuary. Once we start getting more children attending, we will revisit the nursery and Sunday School.

Do you have religious education?
At this time of transition, we do not. However, For adult educational opportunities, check out our Small Groups and/or News pages for more information on current classes.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.
